Menieres' disease is caused by a disease or infection that leads to damage of the auditory nerve. the auditory nerve is responsible for our ability to hear. Damage is usually permanent and can lead to deafness. Positional vertigo is caused by an imbalance of equalibrium, that is, fluid in the ciculatory canals that are located inside our inner-ears. that can be thrown out of balance by ear infections, certain medications, & changes in altitude. a drug called antivert is very effective in alleviating symptoms. cheese and chocolates are contraindicated because they interfere with the absorbtion of the medication in the body.
