first i just want to say that i have had ear/sinus issues in the past, but it hasn’t been has bad (i have some hearing loss but it’s not too significant, although it seems to have gotten worse lately).
for the past couple of weeks or so, i have heard a pounding noise in my ear. i am assuming that i am hearing my heartbeat which i believe is indicative of tinnitus. it is a lot worse at night, and it has been keeping me up.
also, about a month ago i did have fluid in my right ear but the doctor didn’t really do anything about it. my right ear has been hurting (sometimes just dull pain but i also get sharp shooting pain) for a few months.
does this sound like tinnitus? or something else? what would be the treatment? is there something to help in the meantime?
*also i know, you won’t be able to give me complete specific answers, but i am just looking for some advice/help. i’m going to try and get an appointment with my doctor later when they open. tia!

I have recently discovered my tinnitus and it bothers me a lot. I have the type that sounds like it is coming from the center of my head. When I am in a quiet room it makes me dizzy hearing it, and it seems SO LOUD! But throughout the day I don't notice it, it gets drowned out, but I know it is still there. Every time I go to my quiet room and listen to it it seems like it is worse than the day before, but I am not certain of this. Is this awful ringing in my head causing further damage? Also, I fear that this may be permanent and I'm afraid I may not be able to cope with it. Anyone relate to that?

I am suffering with Tinnitus and I want to buy Masking Device for it which may be worn like an hearing device and gives soothing pre-recorded sound. I am Indian nationality so either tell me if it is available in India or give me the links of online sites from where I can buy using online payment methods.
Thanks to all here.
Hi Alley,
Thanks for the information. Please note that I have already consulted the ENT and Audiologists in India and in Kuwait (where I am working presently now) and have been confirmed of having Tinnitus. At times this sound is unbearable and I need to have some relief so I need to have some external device to give me relief. I have also tried other non-conventional methods like chinese herbals, homoeopathy etc. etc bu to no relief.
Please let me have some references if any one knows from where to get the masking device. I shall be very greatful.

I am semi-deaf in one ear and nned to control the left and right volumes seperately. I also sleep with them to mask humming sounds (tinnitus) in one ear. I connect it to my Ipod.Is there such a product? Thanks

It's a Lennox. The sound can be described as a non-stop ringing noise like a high pitched whining, buzzing, hissing, humming sound much like Tinnitus.

I have tinnitus and I get quite paranoid when listening to music, most of the times I turn the volume on fairly low as I don't want my tinnitus to get worse. What noise level is safe and wouldn't affect my tinnitus? I always hear that avoiding loud noises and sounds will relieve tinnitus, so what would be considered a loud noise? Thanks!

I can hear high pitched sounds like the mosquito ringtone perfectly and i hear them all the time from tv's stero's etc. everytime i hear the sounds i get hadaches the sounds are excruciating.
i can hear them through ear plugs
example i walked in my cousins house and he had the tv in the kitchen and the one upstairs in his room on i said could you turn the tv's down there loud and he said wtf there on mute and he was wondering how i knew they were on.
its not tinnitus already went to the doctor to see about that
i took a hearing test and heard everything of there fine
the doctor told the nurse outside the room to use the dog whistle that he had in his office to see if i could hear it he didnt tell me anything about until after i got up and went to the nurse around the corner and asked her could she stop with the whistle

I am.. A tinnitus sufferer.
I've had it for a year now [Well, a few months, Cuz I finally found out what it was.. Before that, I thought everyone had it.. So I was fine.. SUCKS for me now]
I worry about it 24/7
I sometimes go into quiet rooms just to hear it, and TRY to reconize the sound.
Its a pitching sound
Not those very high ones you hear in those "What does Tinnitus sound like?" videos.
Its sorta similar to it.
I get this weird eardrum feeling in my ears when I hear loud noises, OR if someone talks in my ear/screams.
When I get exposed to that [Which is almost everyday.. Since I go to school :/] then my tinnitus turns to that HIGH pitch sound, very annoying. and lasts for about an hour.
Then it dies down, and goes back to how it was before.
My tinnitus, I hear it when im in a quiet room, with maybe a tv on.
I dont hear it in my bigger living room, I dont hear it outside
Dont hear when people are talking.
Only when theres quiet.
Help!
Is that really tinnitus
To add,
I have nasal problems where my nose gets very stuffy and I cant breath.
Its cuz I was an abuser when I couldnt breath, Atleast 5 times a day,
of Afrin Nasal Congestant.

Depending on the level of the noise I am having I have trouble with hearing. Loud and rasping sounding voices I try to stay away from.

Should I get this checked by a doctor? Sometimes I have a bad case of a ringing in my right ear only, and sometimes, I don't have a ringing sound.
Is this normal? Should I get checked?
