Can Pericoronitis cause Labyrinthitis?

I had an infection in my wisdom teeth. I took antibiotics and got better. For many reasons, I didn’t have the surgery to have them removed afterward.

The infection is back. I have all of the same symptoms as before, but they’re much worse this time.

When I open my mouth, there is a lot of pain. I have a hard time opening my mouth and chewing food. I’ve been having issues with vertigo and tinnitus. I’m nauseated and have a bad head ache every day, especially near bed time. I can’t hear well out my my right ear. It pops(not crackling, though) when I yawn, but it hurts(and it usually doesn’t). Fluid continues to drain out but it doesn’t help my hearing.

So I was wondering if anyone has experienced or heard of pericoronitis causing labrynthitis.

The doc will figure it out soon enough, I’m just wondering mainly for my own amusement, and if I should be taking aspirin or not, lol.

Thank you!

P.S. I’ll be seeing a doctor in 3 weeks and a dentist after that.. So anyone with the advice of "GO SEE A DOCTOR!!!1!!!!1" I’m on it, thanks.

simple question about cholesteatomas.?

ok in 2005 i was told i have a colesteatoma in my right ear. well i had the surgery to have it removed and the 2nd one to have my ear rebuilt. now my question is, tinnitus is a common side effect and lucky me i have it. it was just random but now all i hear is my heart beating in it and the sound is as if someone is blowing into my ear. i have never regained my hearing fully and i don’t know whats wrong. please someone familiar with cholesteatomas please help.

She had her operation six months ago and she’s still hearing buzzing/ringing noises in her ear every other day.

The surgery was to fix a ruptured eardrum in her right ear. It was successful at first but then a couple of months later, there was a small hole in the drum again.

She’s otherwise healthy; she eats right and exercises regularly.

I just want to know if this is normal :(

Let me start of by saying I'm 19 years old. I've been in a band for about 3 years and I've exposed me ears to extremely loud noise without plugs or anything to protect them and I believe I developed Tinnitus about 2 years ago. I had a slight ringing sound with a bit of buzzing but it was always tolerable, usually i would just put some music on and forget about it. Recently it's been getting worse so I started wearing ear plugs and it seemed to be keeping things the way they were. I have the ringing in both ears. A few days ago I was playing the music without the ear plugs and the ringing seemed to get worse. Though the last few months I've been getting dizzy spells (vertigo if you will) and i didn't think much of it. I started feeling nauseous to the point where I would want to vomit but I haven't yet. I feel off balance throughout the day. My ears also feel full as if I couldn't pop them but I really have no problem with that. The ringing seems to intensify sometimes and I also pick up a lot of sharp sounds in my ears that wouldn't have bothered me before. After doing some research I came across meniere's disease which pretty much backs up all of my symptoms. The only discouraging part is that I'm so young and this usually effects adults in their 30's and up. Im not ruling this out a single bit but I wanted to know if anybody out there is suffering from the same symptoms or even has meniere's disease and maybe tell me hoe to keep the ringing to a tolerable level. I have a hard time sleeping, thats when the ringing seems to be at it's worst. I cut Sodium out of my diet as of yesterday and I'm waiting to see if it shows any positive results. The earliest I can get in to see my doctor is March 3rd (a little over 2 weeks from today) and I'm hoping i can deal with it until then. I've read that they do have surgeries to help with this and I would very much so consider it due to my young age. I'm hoping things will resolve on it's own but only time can tell. Does anybody have any recommendations for me? Medications or just helpful information I couldn't find on a website? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

tmj surgery?

has anybody ever got tmj surgery, i'm worried because from researching on the internet i've found that its a relitivaly new surgery and there a great chance of something going wrong or getting little or no possitive results. i've had it many years at the start it was just neck pain and occasional headache, as time went on other problems arose sinus, shoulder pain, numbness in my hands and fingers, presure in my ears, eyes and temble, aswell as tinnitus and the most annoying ear poping.

i've always being able to cope with the pain and discomfert untill it got worst after a tooth extraction in january of this year, i've come to a realisation that its going to get worse if i don't adress it any am wondering if anyone has any experience with tmj or tmd or tmj surgery

Hearing your heartbeat in your head..no its not coming from my ears. Its outside my ears. I have always been aware of my heartbeat since i was a child..guess the way my body is designed but the last six months are so scarey and the doctor vascular specalist ent said there is nothing I can do about it.. unless i want to have surgery to find what the problem is. and that was dangerous. He saw no further reason to persue anything. No symptoms of anything wrong. blood pressure good and all was well except this.It seems to be when my ears are stopped up the most.. some days its almost bearable and doesn't really bother me but other days I can hear every burp, and sound my heart makes..it worries me although I have found there is nothing wrong with my heart. Its like a form of tinnitus..You have to live with it..I already have a cardiac neurosis to start with and being brought ear to head with it everyday just makes me ill..its causing me to have paranoia and worries me..What can I do ..anyone?

cochlear implant & dizziness?

Is there anyone who is late in life deafend who remembers regular hearing and can tell me how the implant sounds comparetively? thanks for any input.

Finally doing something about a possibly impacted wisdom tooth that’s caused me problems for over 2 years now.

I’d like to know a few things if anyone can help, bear with the long description of my situation.

No actual pain in the tooth itself, just the gum surrounding the partially erupted tooth. The wisdom teeth in my upper jaw have came in flawlessly, no problems whatsoever … except for the havoc raining down from one.

Top left wisdom tooth is so jagged & sharp it’s constantly jabbing down on the lower left wisdom tooth & the surrounding gum’s, irritating my gums & causing them to swell. Usually the swelling & pain would go away with the proper care (a mix of saltwater gargles & using mouthwash, also I find a tea made from white sage leaves helps reduce inflammation some). Well it’s happened again, only this time worse. A larger area of gum-line is now effected, accompanied by a sore throat & slightly swollen lymph nodes under the jawline on the outer left side of my neck ( just under the swollen areas in my mouth ), no fever. Impossible for me to eat just about anything and very hard to open and close my mouth all the way or stick my tongue out. I can tell the lower left tooth is probably impacted, I see the molar just in front of it is raised significantly as if the wisdom tooth was slowly pulling the tooth in front of it outward, so needless to say I will be asking to have it extracted and may ask to have the top tooth shaved a little to help prevent anymore gum irritation.

Been dealing with the pain & swelling since Tuesday Oct 21 & finally got an appointment for Tuesday Oct 28, I hate to wait that long especially since it could be infected but I’ll take what I can get.

Now for the question part lol:

What, other than gargling with warm saltwater, are some good home treatments to help keep the swelling & pain at bay until I see the dentist?

Is an extraction my best method for solving this problem once & for all or are there alternatives?

I might get prescribed antibiotics since I’m pretty sure this is an infection, so what are the kinds of antibiotics prescribed for such conditions? What are the names of the typical antibiotics given for gum/mouth/throat/tooth infections?

I have some recent gastrointestinal problems resulting in weight loss & improper nutrient absorption & I take probiotics 2-3 times daily either in the form of yogurt, a probiotic cereal, and/or lactobacillus acidophilus supplements (13.3mg or 2 billion cultures) to help, I’m sure I’ll need to up the dosage when taking antibiotics.

When would be the proper time to take probiotics? A few hours before or after antibiotics? Should I take the antibiotics and probiotics with or without food? How long would I need to be on antibiotics before surgery? Is taking antibiotics recommended for someone like me who already has some GI problems?

I’ve had tinnitus in my left ear for over 10 years & a recently a bout with severe vertigo that left me incapacitated exhausted & starved for a week, I hear that the local anesthetic administered before oral surgery can actually cause tinnitus.

Does anyone know if this is true? Would this irritate my problem ear further?

After vertigo, I don’t want to risk using an anesthetic that would irritate my ear more & cause another bout of vertigo, although I am aware that this possible infection could surely do the same thing if it spreads.

Would I be prescribed any post-operative painkillers? If so, I’d like to know what kind of medication is usually prescribed after a wisdom tooth extraction?

Sorry again for the overly descriptive “questions” but I’ve been worried of this, any advice, tips, or personal experience is greatly appreciated!

Thank you, Namasté!

I've had problems with my jaw for several years, and I think orthodontia made them even worse. Now my bite is so misshapen that my head may as well be in a vice; the pressure on my ears has given me chronic tinnitus, and it gets worse along with the jaw tension. What can I do to re-shape my jaw and get rid of the terrible ringing? I really hope surgery isn't the only option, because I certainly can't afford it in the first place.

My husbands snoring really is ruining our marriage. i am not getting sleep in fact i am getting physically ill from not getting enough rest. I know there is a procedure that docs can do where they put the little plastic things in the throat to hold the flap up that makes all the noise but insurance will not cover it and he is too cheap to pay the 00 or even make payments on it. (we can afford it) Anything else you know of that helps? Even a combo of things….anything would help! I cannot wear earplugs either cause I have tinnitus and need to be able to hear my fan to drown out the ringing on my ears and the one time i did try ear plugs I could still hear him. Yes, he really is that loud!

is there is any cure for tinnitus?

please help meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
i want any cure or any surgery or any permanent cure
please i beg you

Lost my hearing in left ear – then got the Tinnitus – had surgery to remove my inner ear as this was supposed to get rid of it…..it came back shortly after and has remained. I am going back to the surgeon in December, but can anyone give me any answers or does anyone have similar experiences?
