I have tinnitus, and many questions about it…?

I would like answers from doctors, but I don’t want to hear that it’s hopeless. There must be some way to stop or at least reduce that hideous ringing sound in my ears. I find it very hard to believe that in our modern times there is still no specific treatment for tinnitus and I am willing to try anything even if it’s not scientifically proven. So here’s my specific situation…

For a few weeks now I have had constant tinnitus which came out of nowhere, accompanied by "popping" sounds in my ears when I swallow or yawn, a weird feeling in the back of my throat I can’t really explain, and occasional mild headaches.

During this time I have only been able to get to sleep at around 5am, because that’s when the birds come out and tweet in the morning (Helping to distract me from the hideous ringing noises). Because of this I have been losing valuable hours of sleep, which doesn’t help me. So here are my questions…

Q1: Is it best to use tinnitus-masking CDs containing natural sounds, like rain and waves, or are plain old white noise CDs more effective?

Q2: What foods or dietary changes can I make to reduce tinnitus?

Q3: If my tinnitus is NOT noise-induced, can loud noise still make it worse?

Q4: If I’m listening to music, which audio formats are best to listen to through headphones, i.e. are low-bit rate MP3s bad for the ears? What sound format is safer?

Q5: Since my tinnitus hasn’t gotten any better in the last few weeks, is it likely that I will become a permenant sufferer?

Thank you for taking the time to read. I have had tinnitus my whole life to a certain degree, but never this bad. Any advice you could give would be delightful.

Does anybody know any home remedies for sore throat?

I have a really sore throat and wondered if anybody knew any home remedies to ease the pain?
My boyfriend last week was told he had tonsillitis so would it be best to go to the doctors and get myself checked out?

Obviously i can’t go today as it’s the weekend, so i just need something to help just now.

My throat hurts a lot when I swallow. I know I have sore throat, but I’m on vacation in another state so I can’t go the doctor. Any doctors here who can recommend home remedies so that I can solve this and enjoy the rest of my vacation?!??

I think I could be really sick?

My fiancee passed away a couple months ago ever since I have been getting very itchy on my arms, legs, and stomach, I have gone to the doctors and they said I could have been alergic to something but it hasn’t gone away. Any remedies to stop the itch?

My ear is constantly ringing and feels clogged.?

A few days ago my left ear started ringing, and it feels all clogged up. It is the same feeling I get after going to a loud gig, but I haven’t been to one recently. I don’t suffer from tinnitus other than in those circumstances. I’m currently suffering from hayfever and often congested so I’m wondering if it has something to do with sinuses? I’m also finding it impossible to yawn for some strange reason, and this seems to be related.
Does anyone know what it could be, and how I could stop it, or should I just go to the doctors?

I know the cause and have been to many doctors, I’m 20 and it’s been ringing for 5 years now (you’d think I would get used to it, but actually the opposite is happening). I’m having trouble putting up with it because white noise doesn’t work anymore (it just makes it louder). can you think of any other ways to make it a bit less irritating? I know it’s mind over matter for the most part but lately I’ve been having trouble with that. thanks

He has been diagnosed with IBS but he has had heart pain and he says his throat closed up for a second. he has had ringing in his ears and the doctors don't think anything is wrong with him except IBS

I am having Tinnitus with slight pressure?

I have an Audiologist appointment in three weeks (too long). I have been having unusually loud Tinnitus with a little buzzy distortion with external sound or music. But I also feel a slight pressure like what I get going up the mountains. I have no equilibrium problems or dizziness and my ears are clean of wax and the eardrum seems pink and healthy. Could this be an inner ear infection?
cyanne2ak-Thanks, I did not seem to have any allergy problems. Hmmm, perhaps the colds I almost got (but didn't get).

smdglvr-Ugh, how awful! Thankfully it does not feel that pressurized–yet.
Thanks Fire-Dawg, I will try that. BTW, it is called the "eustachian" tube for those looking things up. :)
marianne-thanks, the antihistamine is a good idea. May dry things up a bit. I did not get a cold, but everyone else did. I just kept using Zicam up the nose and it seemed to keep it at bay.
sunshine-thanks sunshine! I was suspended for a while (do a search for schneb), but I was brought back thanks to alot of good folk by my side.
I am going to try the antihist as marianned suggested. I have an audiologist appt. in 2 weeks–hopefully get an antibiotic then. I notice it is louder when I wake from sleep. Fluid buildup?
Wrathpuppet – Been trying to get a hold of you. I have something to send you but need an address. Yeah, I have busy doctors around here.

I am 20 and I've had constant/24 hr ringing in the ears for 6 years now. I've tried pretty much everything, but have never tried a homeopathic tinnitus remedy? is there any chance however slim that it may help?
argh, I've been to like 80000000 doctors
thanks John, that settles that then. it's just water?! wow. sorry to hear you have it too, it can be a pain.

Will I be able to get rid of my Tinnitus?

The ringing or background noise in my ear has been going on for weeks.
Think it was caused by an ear infection. The sound is not too loud as i can only hear it in quiet environment. It sounds like an empty tape recorder being played, would this be tinnitus. I haven't been to the doctors yet but just wanna know if this is tinnitus or not? And if so, will it be able to go away?

Okay, well this started about 2 months ago, I started getting really lightheaded & thought I was going to faint. I panicked and called the ambulance. 2 days before that incident I had visited my doctor because of pulsatile tinnitus ( this swooshing noise that goes along with my heartbeat) she said it could be an infection.

Ever since I went to the hospital the light headedness is still here. 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Especially when I am out somewhere, I feel unbalanced. And I also feel brain fog…I feel confused and I forget stuff sometimes. I have really bad derealization.
I feel so alone, especially when doctors can't figure out what I have.
I have had MRI's and MRA's, CT scans, and Carotid Ultrasounds. Since I thought I had narrowing somewhere because I have high cholesterol but not high blood pressure.

All of this is causing me stress, which is causing me really bad headaches and heart flutters. I'm going to a Cardiologist on Monday and If there's nothing wrong then I am going to my ENT.

Does anyone think this could be a middle ear problem?

No rude answers please.

The fear is going through me if i have tinnitus or not.
I have had this ringing/buzzing in my ear for 2weeks now,the doctors examined and told me i had an ear infection.

Has anyone ever had this before?
Is it Tinnitus or part of an ear infection?

I shot my gun last night. It's an incredibly loud .380 caliber gun that damaged my hearing because I wasn't wearing protective gear for my ears. I usually take it to the range were they have ear protection I rent. But I shot in the woods last night, not realizing how loud the gun really was. I had no clue it would be that loud. Now all I hear is a bunch of "ringing" in my ears. Is there a way to fix this cause I am a poor man and can't afford doctors or nurses.

Could this really JUST be anxiety?

Hi guys I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I am an 18 year old female & for the past 2 months or so I have been very light headed. It's not vertigo but it feels as though I could pass out. Along with this,I feel tired all the time sometimes I feel like I'm in a dream and I'm always with brain fog where I just don't feel right. I seem to not be able to concentrate as well as I used to. I also have pulsatile tinnitus(doctors don't seem to worry about it too much) I've had MRI's of my brain also MRA because I thought I wasn't getting enough blood flow to my head, I've had CT scans, Carotid Ultrasound, and blood tests.

What could possibly be wrong with me? I went to a neurologist, cardiologist, and an ENT. They all think it might be anxiety.
Right now I am going to another ENT who THINKS it might be BBPV…it's just a suggestion, he doesn't sound too sure though. He says not to worry about the pulsatile tinnitus…but the thing is that 2 days after first getting the pulsatile tinnitus I started getting the dizzy spells.

Could this all just be anxiety????
But could the anxiety cause 24/7 ANXIETY?
I meant 24/7 LIGHTHEADEDNESS*****
sorry about the typo.
