You need to go to an ear throat and nose specialist and have your ears tested and have a thorough exam to see exactly what is going on. You could have a ruptured eardrum which would cause your symptoms. Please go get checked out instead of guessing or self medicating etc. I have tinnitus and went to have it checked in this manner, the doctor told me everything I needed to know.

In the past year I've had nasty health problems. In my family, every member loses some or all of his/her hearing in one ear at 50 years of age.

After surgeries, I could not get my balance back, kept falling, etc. I went to my ENT who has an audiologist working with him. It was determined that my hearing had indeed suffered (without help of rock music), and my balance was related to my hearing. I was told to get physical therapy.

Do you think that stopping all air flow through your eardrums at night might help the ringing? Or does it matter. Maybe they're going to ring anyhow from inside. Sleeping aids, antihistimines, meditation.

If any of this stuff seems possible to you, just e-mail and I'll help any way I can.
