Meniere’s disease and hearing?
I've had meniere's disease for 6 years. I've had a shunt put in my ear and have had some hearing loss. I'm curious if anyone else who has this problem hears themselves when they talk. Sounds weird I know, but it's like an echo in my ear that sometimes drives me nuts. I was also not aware that this might cause problems throughout my life. I figured that the shunt would take care of everything, but within the past year I have had problems with labrynthitis and tinnitus. Anyone with any input would be helpful.

You may or may not like him as an individual but Rush Limbaugh has a variety of information and advice available on his web-site. He has Menieres and is doing many things to assist in education and cure seeking for the disease. God bless you.
I’ve also had MM for many years. I occasionally hear an “echo” in my bad ear. I didn’t have the shunt operation but the gent injections.
I also have this horrible Menieres, I do hear bad echoing and hear no bass in one side which makes it hard to hear and painful when in a room with a lot of people.
I notice when I watch my diet it gets better.
Cut out all salt, drink a ton of water, and stay away from processed foods. Check you PH balance and try to keep it more alkaline than acidic.
When I get on the acidic side the Menieres goes haywire.
I hope things get better for you….
Check out yahoo’s group for Menieres. You will meet many people with similar problems (Menieres is different for us all). Everyone is extremely supportive and you will learn of many different treatments. I highly encourage you to do this for yourself.
