Hearing problem: Menieres’s Disease.. (which i have) um.. HELP??
im only 16 and my doctor told me that this isnt normal for young people to have it. Ive been trying to cope with if for the past two years. Getting steriod shots and taking pills. Now that all of that is over they still couldnt get the buzzing to stop. I mean its not as loud as it was but its still there.
And how can i feel NOT embarrassed (sp?) when im "supposed" to wear my hearing aid (which doesnt do anything.. i mean it) around other high school kids??
I really need some advice…thanks!
Side note: this all started with me being underwater during a synchronized swimming meet.

I am sorry to hear about your condition, and I truly hope it gets better. You need to ask why you need to wear your hearing aid if it doesn't help.
I think the best thing to do to avoid being embarrassed is to embrace it. Make it your "thing." I would especially encourage this if they think your hearing could get worse. My wife works with the deaf and the hard of hearing as an interpreter, and both of us speak sign language. While there may not be any reason for you to learn sign language, you might find that an interesting world to get involved in. If you have any hearing problem you would be accepted into that world, and you might be able to do voluteer work as a result. Most of the time even the worst circumstances can open new opportunities to us. Just something you might want to think about. God bless.
dont be embarrassed about wearing it… i dunno what u should do if it doesnt work tho. good luck.
you may want to question the diagnosis. From my understanding, menieres disease is a disorder of the inner ear/vestibular system causing significant vertigo, not so much hearing disorders. If you are experiencing hearing problems in that ear without vertigo find a different doctor/get another opinion. Finally, if the hearing aid isn't helping then stop wearing it. Hope this helps.
I know how hard this must be for you, But there is always help. You can speak with a Herbalist at http://www.nupro.net/?1618 and there is a toll free number on the site and tell him your problem. He will tell you if he can help you or not. Or if you would rather contact me you may.
They have helped all manner of health issues.
Don't be embarrassed about wearing a hearing aid. I wore my hearing aid all throughout school and never felt ashamed of it. I even wore an FM system most of the time too, which is a LOT more noticeable than a hearing aid.
If your hair is long enough, you can leave it so that it'll cover your ear or the hearing aid. That's one suggestion.
People don't normally notice my hearing aid. My earmold is clear, and the hearing aid is brown, which really blends in with my hair. Maybe take that into consideration when you should get a new hearing aid, if you still feel embarrassed about wearing it.
