Any remedies that TRULY work to get dog urine smell out of carpet?
We're getting ready to move and when our dog was a puppy, she was very stubborn about being potty trained. We would clean up after her, but there is a smell that just won't go away. We now have to get the urine smell out of the carpets to get our deposit back – we've used a Rug Doctor but that only helped with any stains that might have been there, such as drink spills, etc. and didn't really help with the smell. I need something that will work on the smell, whether it's a home remedy or something you can buy at the store. I've tried a couple of products and they don't seem to do the job. HELP!!! I'm desperate…I will even have the carpets professionally cleaned if I need to, but wanted to see if anyone had any good ideas first.

the product Zero Ordor will do the job, but is only available online, as far as I am aware..Some of the larger stores may carry it, but not in my tiny town..the product Petastic is an enzyme cleaner that works..It is the old formula for Nature's Miracle..(Nature's Miracle isn't good, anymore, since they sold to another company) .You will find it in most pet supply shops..
I have heard that Oxi Orange works, but haven't tried it..
I use Awesome..It worked well for my last litter..
We bought this stuff that came with a little black light so you could see where the stains were and had a bottle of spray to get them out. It was called Urine B Gone.
Urine gone
Have you tried plain old Windex? The ammonia in it will make the smell go away, and it is also great for stains…I used it on cat urine and the smell went away. I would think it works on puppy pee too. Good luck!
If you really need that deposit back, I would just hire a carpet cleaning company. They would be able to use better chemicals on the carpet and would have better chance of getting the smell out.
Urine is very hard to eliminate the smell. As the urine absorbs into the carpet padding. So the smell will linger until the carpet and the padding are ripped out and replaced. Sometimes depending on the amount of urine that soaked through, the wood that the carpet tacks into, has to be replaced as well.
My mum uses just lots of cleaning spray and rubs at it with kitchen roll! I hope this helps…
nature's miracle pet stain/odor remover it works believe me
Hi! There is a product call X-O that will take the urine smell completely out of the carpet and your pup will not go there again. You can usually find it at your vets office or online on QVC.
I have never had much luck with anything else I have tried.
Rent a rug cleaner and go to your local pet store, purchase Natures Miracle Pet Odor and Stain Remover and follow bottle directions.
Sprinkle baking soda on and sweep it all up. Then put some Nature's Miracle on the spots. That stuff works like a charm. Good luck!
Oxyclean, urine out (uses a black light to spot urine)….
when you clean the carpet use a cleaner that is recommended for this particular problem. then when you are done and the carpets are dry spray them with stuff that is also recommended for this and then if possible open the windows and this will help.
Well that depends on how long the urine was allowed to sit before it got cleaned up. If you cleaned it up right away, and it is just in the carpet, then I would try Baking soda and lemon juice. Just mix a tablespoon of Baking soda in with a teaspoon of lemon juice and add water until it is a paste. (Make more if needed.) Let it sit on the carpet. It will absorb some amazing things out of there! It will need to be shampoed back up again, though. But it's worth it. If any urine was allowed to sit, it probably soaked into the padding of the carpet, and I'm sorry to say, you might try proffesional cleaners, but the chances are if it is in the padding, it will never come out.
Sorry and good luck! : )
Try white vinegar. Saturate the area with the vinegar and let it sit for about 15 to 20 minutes and soak it all up using an old bath towel and let it dry.
Nature's Miracle….I have one pup of our own, and I foster puppies and cats/kittens….I have a ton of animals who have accidents…and Nature's Miracle still keeps my house smelling like I have no pets, and I use Febreze, specifically for pet odors…Love them Both!!
try a mixture of very dilute tea mixed with some mint
Nature's Miracle… Stuff works wonders!
