My throat hurts a lot when I swallow. I know I have sore throat, but I’m on vacation in another state so I can’t go the doctor. Any doctors here who can recommend home remedies so that I can solve this and enjoy the rest of my vacation?!??

Ear Ringing?

what was the myth about ear ringing again, like why .. I can’t remember for anything.. LOL

Can you please critique a section from my story?

This is through the eyes of a third class boy on the TITANIC on the night of her sinking. I am not actually sure if a third class wall collapsed or not so please don’t hound me on that. I am also not sure if there was a boy named Patrick…so don’t Google it or anything hoping to find info on him :)

Upon further inspection, Patrick saw that the man in front of him held a look of pure agonizing terror on his young face. His blood shot sea-green eyes (an epiphany, perhaps?) bulged as he yelled at Patrick’s mum to get a lifebelt on immediately. Upon performing that task, she was to make her way to the main deck in complete haste. Patrick came upon the gross realisation of how dire the situation had become. This was when he first felt the pang of terror and the sense of danger that momentarily over whelmed him. The man in white eyed Patrick as he yelled almost unintelligibly. “And please, Alexandra. Do all that is in your power to save the young lad.” He pleaded Patrick’s mum, Alexandra, with his eyes before disappearing into the hall as quickly as he appeared. The steward was gone. The whooshing sound that Patrick had shoved to the back of his mind became much more apparent all of a sudden. He could smell the salty smell of the ocean and it was very similar to the smell of the blue water that that suspended the sailboat in the distant memories he futilely clung to.
The scene changed so abruptly, then. It went from entirely chaotic to unbearably tumultuous. In an instant, everything flashed before Patrick’s horror-srtuck eyes as his ears rang from the loud sounds. He couldn’t escape from them. Before he could reach to put his free hand to his ear in a feeble attempt to block the noise, something terrifying happened. The rusted white wall in front of him volleyed forward, sending a torrent of sea and metal hurling towards his unguarded face. As he flew backwards into the black abyss of the perpetually rising waters, his mind went dark, as did the lights of this once great ship.

I know there are some run on sentences. Minor problems that can be easily fixed. Any advice for me? I have a whole lot more on paper…but this is just a very tiny excerpt. Thanks for reading.

It was so strange because I was at work and my left ear started ringing. I’ve heard that if it rings its because someone is talking about you. So what does it actually mean? Is it good or bad?

Blackpool. ShaughnBlair.

As the adrenalin rushes through my body, the ringing sound in my ears, created by that same old irritating fairground music disappears at the sight of ‘it,’ ‘The Pepsi Max Big One!’

“Not until you have finished your ice-cream,” I hear mum yell, standing on the tip of her toes, anxiously trying to see my small body over the rushing crowds. In an emotional explosion of anger, I throw my half – melted, raspberry sauce smothered, hundreds and thousands covered, ice – cream towards the ride. The sticky missile lands in a gap on a large, rusted grey box. All of the high pitched music comes crashing back when I notice the sign on the box. ‘Danger! Seven thousand volts.’ Luckily for me, mum hasn’t seen my outburst. However, I can’t keep in my thoughts. ‘what if this happens?’ ‘What if that happens?’ “Oh Shaughn, just forget about it, it will be fine!” mum states, firmly. She isn’t shouting, but I can tell from her now purple forehead, and the veins on her neck, that she is furious.

Standing in line for the ‘Teacups’, so my little sister can experience a ‘mad rush of adrenalin’ is tense. Every time I see the huge, red roller coaster go to its highest point, my heart pound like a drum. That drum trying to be heard over a crowd of 30,000 people. My whole day will be ruined by one clumsy mistake. Every time I hear a scream, I ferociously twist my snap my neck around, and take a long, firm glance at the ride. Then I hear them; those words I was dreading to hear: lets go on the Pepsi Max now.
“I’m starving though,” I exclaim, almost feeling my extremely bloated stomach drag the words back down my throat.

“Next please,“ shouts the stout female from behind the counter of the ‘Snack Shack,‘ a portable food van, trying to make her voice heard over the balling crowds. All of the ghastly, grease packed, salt stuffed images of the fat bulging burgers on the board behind the woman make my stomach wrench.
“I’ll have chips please,” a manage to say, pulling the words from my voice box. I ate about five of my salt and vinegar smothered, brown sauce smothered chips and threw the rest at the already protuberant seagulls.

In a daydream, following my mother, I am aware of a large, luring presence linger above me. I grit my teeth, tense my muscles and look up at the large unsavoury object and dead ahead stood the Pepsi Max. “Go and see if you are tall enough,” mum calls to me softly, pointing at the cardboard cut-out of a can of Pepsi that states, ‘ you must be taller than me to ride.’ Gingerly dragging my feet towards the unusual sign, my heart pounds, and I hope that it is growing to grow three feet in size. “Oh no,” I state, sarcastically when my mum tells me I am just to small. Unfortunately for me, the man in the ticket box was in a good mood today. “On you go son,” he says, winking at me with one eye.

Sitting in the red and blue rusty cart, the smell of burning oil is overwhelming. The ground starts to shake, and so do my knees. The cart fires out from the stand, like a bullet from a revolver. Screaming at the highest pitch my voice will let me, I feel 20 odd eyes drawn towards me. What makes it more embarrassing is that the ride is only going around five miles per hour. As I reach the top of the croaking ride, my heart stops, my eyes close and my hands grab anxiously on to the metallic safety bar. Strangely, the ride comes to a complete halt at its highest point.

Twenty-three minutes have passed by and nothing happens. Droplets of rain start to hit my chalk-white face; droplets turn in to a shower; a shower turns into a down-pour and a down-pour turns into a treacherous storm. I hold my jacket over my head. It blows from my grasp and is pinned to the drenched floor below. A creaking sound is heard above the howling wind. The floor or the rain drenched starts to vibrate and a huge gasp of relief is heard. As the ride pushes against the wind, the flashing lights from the fairground below become more apparent as the carriage crawls over the peak. While the ride speeds up, the pain of the rain hitting off my face increases and so do the screams. The vibrating below eventually fades away as the station approaches. A loud hissing noise echoes around the station as the airbrakes are released. “lets just stick to the teacups,” I humorously say to mum.

As the adrenalin rushes through my body, the ringing sound in my ears crated by that same old irritating fairground music fades away at the sight of it. The road home. thank you :D .

Does anyone know any home remedies?

I have acid reflux and it’s hurting me really badly. I can’t go to the doctor, and I’m just wondering if someone has found something that helped them that doesn’t require a prescription.

I bought a really cheap Nokia mobile telephone the other day and yesterday I was talking on it for nearly an hour. Afterwards I couldn’t hear properly and I noticed a ringing in my ear. Thought this would go away overnight but I have had it all day today and it seems to be getting worse. I returned the phone and bought a different one by the way. Has anybody had this before – ear issues after speaking on a mobile? And how long for? I will go to the doctor Monday if I still have it.
